WENZEL Group acquires leading
Reverse Engineering company Knotenpunkt GmbH
On 4th of July 2008, the WENZEL Group is pleased to announce that it has taken over the world's leading manufacturer of reverse engineering software, technology and CNC controllers Knotenpunkt GmbH, Balingen.
"By the strategic acquisition of the C-technology provider Knotenpunkt, WENZEL expands its leading position as provider of design systems for the recording and processing of surfaces", said Frank Wenzel, managing director of the WENZEL Group, about the take over.
The product range of Knotenpunkt covers the whole area of digitization and processing of point clouds and the complex field of reverse engineering.
With the acquisition, all rights of the software package ‘Point Master’ for reverse engineering and measurement goes in the possession of WENZEL Group.
By integrating PointMaster into the WENZEL DesCAD Design Software WENZEL now has a complete software tool that gives all functions from digitalizing a model, creating a CAD program up to milling the work piece with just one tool.
Furthermore, WENZEL has now its own 3D line scanner technology (Shapetracer) for the recording of surfaces and contours of physical parts by using WENZEL coordinate measuring machines. Thus, all strategically relevant components of the complete solution are now within the WENZEL Group. According to Ralf Jaumann, managing director of Knotenpunkt, such a solution is unique in the metrology industry.
Knotenpunkt GmbH has its headquarter in Balingen and currently employs 10 employees.
