LHGear Hybrid at the Indianapolis Gear Show
A new concept Hybrid Measuring Machine was performed first at the Indianapolis Gear Show 15 - 17 September. The machine has a prismatic measuring volume of 1500 mm x 2500 mm x 1200 mm and a flush mounted imbedded hydrostatic rotary table that can measure and support gears up to 2600 mm in diameter and 20,000 Lbs in weight. The removable tailstock can support pinions up to 1900 mm in length. Traditional gear inspection machines are typically mechanical bearing devices with horizontal arms holding the scanning probe; stretching a machine concept, originally conceived for 500 mm gears, to measure 2600 mm gears does not provide the optimum solution. WENZEL has introduced all granite air bearing structures to the gear world and its vertical GMMs provide a much higher level of dynamics and scanning performance with no mechanical bearing wear over time. Like all WENZEL traditional CMMs its GMMs suffer almost no degradation in performance between its small units and its larger size machines.
